Mini Haul: Makeup Revolution

makeup revolution haul

A few weeks ago I received a lovely package in the post containing these beauties! Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few weeks I’m sure you will have already heard about Makeup Revolution, and very possibly already own a few bits yourself! They are the newest budget beauty brand to hit the shops and they are fast becoming a beauty bloggers favourite! With prices starting at just £1 they are so affordable, and show that you don’t need to fork out for quality makeup!

I was sent the Vivid Baked Blush in Loved Me The Best*, the Vivid Baked Highlighter in Pink Lights*, the Awesome Eyeshadow and Eyebrow Palette in Disappear Until Tomorrow* and two Amazing Lipsticks in Beloved* and Twist*.

My favourite of the products I received is definitely the blush and the highlighter. I have been using them nearly every day with my Real Techniques contour brush and they go together really nicely. I also love the look of the products. As you can see below, the blush has a swirly pattern and the highlighter reminds me of a shell. It just makes using them feel even nicer as they look so pretty! The Vivid Baked Blushes are £2.50 (link) and the Vivid Baked Highlighters are £3 (link).

The Awesome Eyeshadow and Eyebrow palettes are £4 (link) and I think the quality of the formula is really good for that price! If you use the brush that comes with the palette you do get quite a bit of fall out but when I used it with the brush I got with my Urban Decay Naked 3 palette (post here) I didn’t get any fall out at all. The colours are really versatile, it’s a really good palette for creating a neutral look, or a good smoky eye if you use the darker shades. The top shades in the palette are silver, gold and bronze shades, with one being shimmery and one being more of a matte shade. They are the ones I’ve used the most so far. I haven’t made use of the eyebrow powders as of yet though!

The two Amazing Lipsticks I received are such good shades for me. Beloved is quite a baby pink shade, and is perfect for when I want something a bit understated, although I do need to give it a few layers to get a good colour pay off. As for Twist, this is definitely for when I am feeling a bit more brave! If I apply it straight from the tube it’s very bright and I feel my skin tone needs to be a bit more tanned to pull it off. However I’ve been applying it with a lip brush and it looks a lot less in your face, which I prefer! It is a gorgeous shade for summer though. The Amazing Lipsticks are a bargainous £1! (link)

And there you have it! After trying these products I have to say I am really impressed with Makeup Revolution, and I will be picking up quite a few more things when I get paid next week! The lipsticks especially are great for £1, especially if you just want to try a few new shades and aren’t sure what will suit you! You can buy online here or at Superdrug stores/online.

Have you tried any Makeup Revolution products yet? Which are your favourites?

Paul Mitchell Neuro™ Intelligent Styling

On Wednesday evening I hopped into a taxi with three other bloggers and was whisked off to Leigh, to the Urban Spirit salon. The fact that the organiser of the event I was going to had booked us transport already had me excited, but the prospect of trying out some Paul Mitchell products meant I couldn’t wait to get there!

The Bloggers Snail Mail

never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game

The Bloggers Snail Mail is another box swap I did this month, organised by Gemma of Lipsticks and Lashes. We were paired up with another blogger and after a month of getting to know each other we had to send a box of little treats up to the value of £5. I have to say though it was tricky sticking to the budget!

Lily Lulu Charity Press Event

Processed with Rookie So the second event I went to last week was Lily Lulu’s charity press event at Barça Manchester, where they were fundraising for Cancer Research UK. I love that Lily Lulu took the chance to raise money for a worthwhile cause whilst also promoting their new S/S clothes. First of all, a mirror selfie of my outfit – I love this dress, I got it from New Look in January with some of my Christmas money. I love the colour, but I do think it creases super easily, which bugs me a bit! 2014-03-27 19.21.48

Maylash Natural Eyelash Serum

2014-03-21 18.51.41

On Thursday I received a lovely little package from MayBeauty, containing their new natural eyelash serum, MayLash*. MayLash was developed with all-natural ingredients as there has been a lot of controversy around the chemicals in other eyelash serums. They claim that your eyelashes will be longer and denser around 4 weeks after beginning to use the product. I’ve only been using it a few days so I can’t give an opinion on this either way, but I will do a full review of the product after a month of using it to let you know how I’ve been getting on!
